My Internal Debate
Since December my weaving mojo has been missing in action. I have been conflicted about blogging about quilting on my blog, The Weaving Song. It felt all sorts of wrong! Sitting quietly with a needle and thread feels like a homecoming of sorts. I spent many happy hours as a little girl making Barbie clothes.
I fell in love with this little scrap of flowers. I am proud of this little improvisational and wonky log cabin. The beginning quilt class at The Cary Quilting Company not only refreshed my sewing chops. It also showed me how much more enjoyable quilting is with a cutting table at the right height and a design wall.
❤❤❤ I too sewed as a child and young adult. My attention was drawn away from sewing in my 30's and I began to make baskets and to teach basket-making. Then I became a weaver, having three looms at one point. Of course, that led to learning to spin. I loved all of it in its time, but then in my late 40's I rediscovered sewing and learned to quilt. The rest is history. Although I still have and occasionally use my inkle loom and spinning wheel, the looms are now blessing others and my basketry materials have been enjoyed by WCPSS elementary students. Cary Quilting Company and its predecessor have been a big part of my quilting learning curve. Good luck to you as you pursue all your passions. It's okay to move forward. ❤❤❤
